The Test Director (TD) is responsible for exercising control and coordination of test related activities during the preliminary planning, execution and post-test activities of an assigned test operation. The TD is the single Point of Contact for that operation.
The TD evaluates all customer requirements to ensure they can be accomplished within the improved safety envelope of the range. If it is found that the requirements cannot be supported, the parameters will be negotiated to a mutually agreeable resolution. The TD will monitor and interpret real-time flight safety displays to detect errant vehicles and, if deemed necessary, initiating proper action including flight termination. The TD also monitors operations to assure all flight safety criteria are satisfied.
